THE GIFT OF LEARNING...PART 2

It is September already? Somebody stop the world..it is moving too fast. Well, here goes part 2 of some of the things that am getting to learn this year:

1. I've learned that life is a fine balance between forgetting it enough to get over it and remembering it enough to not let it happen again.

2. Contrary to popular belief, sometimes holding on and hanging in there are not signs of great strength. I have therefore learned that there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then to actually do it. Let go of the things that can no longer be fixed. If you force to try and put them back, things will only get worse. Holding on is being brave, but sometimes moving on makes you even tougher.

3. I have learned that what other people think of you is none of your business. You can’t change it, you can’t control it. The only thing you can control is your reaction to it.

4. I have learned that the real world doesn’t reward perfectionists. It rewards people who get things done, and the only way to get things done is to be imperfect 99% of the time.

5. I've learned that there is nothing more genuine than breaking away from the chorus to learn the sound of your own voice.

6. I have learned that the soul always knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.

7. One thing I have learned is that you cannot drag your past to your present and expect a successful trip to your future. Living in the past will keep you stagnant in your present!!! Give your past to GOD so you can move forward!!!

8. I have learned to be alone and to like it. There’s nothing more freeing and empowering than learning to like your own company.

9. I am learning that life doesn't wait for you. It does not matter whether you're grieving or going through a very difficult time ... It ignores our silent pleas even though we've already had enough. It merely goes on... Life goes on ... We should too.

10. I have learned that if you try and live up to other people’s expectations, you must also learn to live down their disappointments.

11. I have learned that when you truly love someone you don't judge them by their past, you leave it there. . Just be happy that their future belongs to you.

Have a wonderful learning period readers and look out for part 3...

The Gift of Learning..Part 1

It's 5pm and am suffering from brain drain in the office. We can blame it on everything including the high temperatures experienced in Nairobi. However, I decided to do something I love and I haven't done in a while..writing.

We are already in March and it's amazing how much learning I have had to undergo this year. So as to fuel my fire and stimulate my brain, I decided to share some of my 20 special key lessons in 2015 so far. I hope they make your life seemingly easier than having to learn some of them practically.

1.  I've learned that people will rate you, grade you, shake you..but its how we hold on that counts.

2. I've learned that pleasing everyone is not my job and neither is pissing them off yet it comes so naturally..

3.  I've learned that despite knowing what is coming, you are never prepared on how it makes you feel.

4.  I've learned that no matter how dirty your past is, your future is still spotless. That's how God looks at us and how we should look at one another.

5. I've learned that anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's TRUE STRENGTH!

6. I've learned that people are frauds they say something and do something else.

7. I've learned that having an ego is not a bad thing especially when it comes to your self respect.

8. I've learned that I can't afford to let people's preferences, make me think less of myself . I'm gold...But some people prefer silver and that's OK .

9. I've learned that the hardest part about growing up is letting go of what you were used to; and moving on with something you’re not.

10. I've learned that you should never take a " No" from someone who isn't qualified to give you a "Yes" in the first place.

11. I've learned that you have to let go of how things come to pass in your life-dream, live and love.

12. I've learned that the only battles worth your energy and concern are the ones that you fight with yourself.

13. I've learned that you should fall in love with people who make you better. Because if love should COST you your progress, then you're letting the wrong people AFFORD it.

14. I've learned that they'll hate on your ambition, curse your dreams&hope for your failure but you should ignore small minds because they'll never comprehend big spirits.

15. I've learned that when someone makes you the happiest and the saddest person at the same time, that's NOT real love. Stop accepting crap!!!

16. I've learned that sometimes you're not asking for too much, you're just asking the wrong person to give it to you. Know the value of people that you decide to keep.

17. I've learned that you should master the ''art'' of saying NO . Don't lie...don't make excuses ....don't over-explain yourself. Just simply DECLINE . A graceful refusal is better than a lengthy promise.

18. I've learned that everything comes to an end. A friendship is not immune to that.

19. I've learned that when GOD gives us a 'NO' for an answer, keep in mind that there is a much greater 'YES' behind it.
His 'NO' is not a 'REJECTION', but a 'REDIRECTION'.

20. And finally I've learned that at this stage of our lives, if it doesn't make you HAPPY, make you BETTER or make you MONEY ...then SIMPLY DON'T MAKE TIME FOR IT !

VALUE VERSUS PRICE...

One day, a rich Dad took his son on a trip. He wanted to show him how poor people
live. They spent time on the farm of a poor family.

On the way home, Dad asked, "Did you see how poor they are? What did you learn?

The son Said..

"We have one dog, they have 4; we have a pool, they have a river;we have tube lights at night, they have stars.

We buy food, they grow; we have walls to protect us,
they have friends.

We have TV, they spend time with family and relatives."

Then he Added:

"Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."

LESSON:
It's not money that makes us rich, it's simplicity and love that makes our life..

Remember also;

Never educate your child to be rich. Educate them to be happy. So when they grow up, they will know
the value of things, not the price!

Easier said than done...

It's easy to fall, it's uneasy to rise
It's easy to destroy, it's uneasy to build
It's easy to give up, it's uneasy to persist
It's easy to blame others, it's uneasy to blame ourselves
It's easy to argue, it's uneasy to collaborate for the better
It's easy to get angry, it's uneasy to forgive
It's easy to see the bad, it's uneasy to see the good
It's easy to be hateful, it's uneasy to be wise, mature and remain peaceful
It's easy to make excuses, it's uneasy to take responsibility
It's easy to panic, it's uneasy to remain calm
It's easy to gossip about others, it's uneasy to give a compliment
It's easy to start well, it's uneasy to maintain and finish well
It's easy to do self pity and remain in pain, it's uneasy to let go and move forward

.... and so on

That's why only small percentage of people in this world who are successful because they always choose to take the uneasy ones..

No one said life is easy....and people tend to avoid being hurt/being uncomfortable.
People want to get closer with the easy ones and things that give them pleasure ..

So I write this to keep on reminding myself that I want to keep on learning to take the uneasy choices in this life...

I don't want a perfect life, but I  want a happy life

STAY FOCUSED&LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE!!

Here is a great story that got me thinking

"I was jogging one day and i noticed a person in front of me, about 1/4 of mile. I could tell he was running a little slower than me and I thought, good, i shall try to catch him. I had about a mile to go my path before i needed to turn off.

So i started running faster and faster. Every block, i was gaining on him just a little bit. After just a few minutes i was only about 100 yards behind him, so i really picked up the pace and push myself. You would have thought i was running in the last leg of London Olympic competition. I was determined to catch him.

Finally, i did it! I caught and passed him by. On the inside i felt so good. "I beat him" of course, he didn't even know we were racing. After i passed him, i realized i had been so
focused on competing against him that i had missed my turn. I had gone nearly six blocks past it. I had to turn around and go all back. "

Isn't that what happens in life when we focus on competing with co-workers, neighbors, friends, family, trying to outdo them or trying to prove that we are more successful or more important? We spend our time and energy running after them and we miss out on our own paths to our God given destinies. The problem with unhealthy competition is that its a never ending cycle.
There will always be somebody ahead of you, someone with better job, nicer car, more money in the bank, more education, a prettier wife, a more handsome husband, better behaved children, etc. But realize that "You can be the best that you can be, you are not competing with no one." Some people are insecure because they pay too much attention to what others are doing, where others are going, wearing & driving. Take what God has given you, the height, weight & personality. Dress well & wear it proudly! You 'll be blessed by it.

Stay focused and live a healthy life..

The Beauty of Sacrifice,,,,,

Skies cry to let the earth grow,
Sun walks away to let the moon rule,

Stars give their brightness to the moon to let the night pass by,
Clock runs continuously to let time go on smoothly.

So keep in mind, life is full of sacrifices.
Some may benefit you, some may not.

Those which won't will surely pay back as;

The earth burns to fill the skies again,
The moon has to go away in despair to give sun what belonged originally to it,

Stars need to be there; as it fills up the night sky with life,
And clock is useless, if time plays on its own!!

PLEDGE OF A GROWING PERSON

I am a person with a history to be respected, a present to enjoy and a future to build. I am fully capable of living my life to the full.

I do not need any human being to make me complete although a respectful, equal and mutual relationship will enlarge my life.

I will not be sidetracked by unhealthy relationships again. I will not build friendships, go out with, or become intimate with anyone who does not regard me with utmost respect.

I want equality, honesty and trust in my relationships. I am better off single, alone and lonely than I am "sharing" my life with a person who lies to me, cheats on me and disrespects me.

I will start to move my life in a healthy direction despite the difficult hurdles that are in my path.
